Hair

I haven't posted since my last exciting announcement of starting this thing.  I'm sure my readers are disappointed in me.  You probably check back 3 or 4 times a day thinking, "Maybe she posted today!"  And when you find I haven't, you cry a little inside.

Juuuuuust kidding... Yeah right! Haha!

It's kind of hard to come up with what I should blog about.  I don't want anyone to think that I'm borrrrrrring.  But I also think, sometimes it's just fun to read someone else's thoughts!  So today, I'm just gonna wing it and write what comes to mind.  I've decided I will just let it flow.  Some days may be significant, some days may be pointless.  You decide for today. ;)

I told you I am random, and my posts will be random... well I'm gonna prove it right now.  Today, I'm here to post about something we all have- HAIR.  I realize this can be a gross subject.  I am one of those who seem to always find a hair in my food.  I am sure I have too many stories and instances to share with you about finding a hair disgustingly connecting from my taco to my mouth, so I will not torture you & share them.  I want to gag just thinking about it.

Moving right along.

So, HAIR it is for today!  I am currently growing my hair out.  Many of you know me and know this is kind of a catch phrase of mine.  I am always growing my hair out.  A friend of mine likes to ask me, "So are you growing your hair out this week?"  Real funny let me tell ya ;)

I like to change things up & sometimes a good chop is fun!  For such a long time I had a picture of Adriana Lima with long thick wavy curls and "organic" highlights. I showed everyone the picture.  Thought that by making it known, I'd be able to stick with the process and not cut my hair.  Not likely.  Last summer, I fell in love with, and wanted Victoria Beckham's short 'do.  My tunnel vision kicked in and within two days, all that hard work to look like my friend Adriana, went down the drain.  But, I loved it.  In fact, went shorter even a few times!  But now, I want long again.

So this brings me to why I want to talk about HAIR.  Well, I'm kind of doing a little experiment.  For quite some time, I've searched and googled my little heart out on "ways to grow hair fast".  There are all kinds of things out there!  Shampoos, conditioners, vitamins, treatments, theories... but what really works?  Does anything really work?  Well, I'm no scientist and I am certainly not thoroughly experimenting with these ideas.

But I will let you in on a little "research" I am personally doing….

I searched high & low for the best products out there.  Not really, but it makes me sound more legit.  In all honesty, I wanted things to be easy & accessible & our favorite, affordable.  So, I started using Mane & Tail shampoo & conditioner.  We've all heard of it. I can't tell you how many times I've been recommend it.  Well, I have been using it religiously every.single.night.  (I use my "nice" shampoo/conditioner in the mornings when I get ready for the day, so I’m not sure I recommend it for every day use.)  On top of that,  I walked right into Target, scanned the vitamin aisle and picked up a bottle of vitamins called Hair, Skin, Nails produced by a brand called Origin.  (Can't go wrong with Target, right?) These vitamins are a little tedious if you ask me though.  You have to take them 3 times a day - preferably with food.  However, since I am so determined, and since I need to see if these really work, I will stay on top of things.  I just started taking them on the 14th & they are going to last for 40 days.  I realize that hair grows at a certain pace on its own & I’m very familiar with mine… slowwwwww.  This is just to see if it helps speed things up.  I am gonna take a picture of my length now & take another one in 40 days.  Maybe if it’s significant enough I’ll post them.  Fingers crossed.

All this to say, maybe my simple little regimens will work & I’ll be able to help shed some light on the topic for some of you.  Whatever the outcome, I’ll be sure to let you know how it all goes.

In the meantime, everyone needs to go out & buy Revlon’s Top Speed nail polish in the Emerald color for St. Patrick’s Day J  I happen to have it on today & I love it!  Plus this means I won’t get pinched tomorrow J

  2. Holy Moly that was a lot of words about hair. But I'll add a little more...when I went to get my hair "did" on Monday the girl told me to take Biotin when I told her I wanted to grow my hair out.

One last thought...do you really take a shower at night AND in the morning??

  4. Hey nessie!
So my mom manages a salon and the best advice I can give you that I have gotten is don't wash your hair everyday!!! I know, what?! But it's true! In order for your hair to grow it needs natural oils... the less oil - the dryer your hair - the more prone it will be to breakage and it will not grow. I have a tough time with this... especially since I work out and my hair gets gross... but limit your hair washing to every other day and then go for 2-3 times a week! Sounds crazy but it really does work. The chemicals in shampoo are too strong to use everyday! ...Of course the companies don't tell us that because they want us to keep spending money, but none-the-less!! This works! I promise if you stick with this for 40 days and make it a habit you will be rapunzel or adriana in no time!!
    Either way you are beautiful!

  5. Thanks girls! The reason I chose the certain vitamins that I did was b/c they contain 3,000 mcg of Biotin in them. I have always heard to take Biotin too!

As for the whole not washing hair business... no way can I can do that, Candy! For one, I wake up with hair that will scare anyone away so I have to wash it to tame it. I also sweat profusely when I work out & there is no way in this world I will go without washing my hair after working out. I am a hygiene freak! People with long hair can get away with not washing theirs for days, but not me! That's why I'm trying to see if taking vitamins will help.

    We will see! :)
